Early Life and Rise to Fame
Born on December 22, 1949, in Douglas, Isle of Man, Robin Hugh Gibb was the fraternal twin of Maurice Gibb. The Gibb family relocated to Manchester, England, and later to Brisbane, Australia, where Robin, alongside his brothers Barry and Maurice, formed the Bee Gees. Their harmonious blend and songwriting prowess led to a series of hits in the 1960s and 1970s, including “Massachusetts,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” and “Stayin’ Alive,” solidifying their place in music history.
In August 2010, Robin underwent emergency surgery for a blocked intestine, during which doctors discovered a tumor. He was subsequently diagnosed with colon and liver cancer. Tragically, Robin’s health deteriorated due to kidney and liver failure, leading to his passing on May 20, 2012, at the age of 62. His son, Robin-John, emphasized that while the cancer had been in remission, it was the organ failure that ultimately claimed his father’s life.
